Click on Chatbox (alg): Choose a nickname instead of the number that is given. (reading this manual I will call you misterX and your chatpartner(s) misterY) Connect: Click on connect and wait until you are in. If you see the texstbar with a cursor, than you can start typing your first message. Just look first what’s happening in the chatroom before you add something. Remember, it’s an open chat. If you don’t know anybody Be polite and only if you have something to say, sent a message Using chatbox (alg) means you just come to see what’s possible, so help eachother to get a new channel or a private chat.
We assume, you have a sort of appointment to use the chat f.i. family or friends at a certain time. Just wait until you see someone (misterY) coming on the chatscreen. MisterY could have joined before you did To see that click on “opts” in the right above and show “users”. Hide them on the same way.
Is your contact already in that box, click on his/her name and you will have a private conversation.
Do not chat in the “chatbox (alg)” Just use it to see what happens or as you learned now to get a private chat. OR wait until you are invited to join a chatroom with more people. A message could appear like this “MisterY invites misterX to join #XYZ. The # is essential because it means channel. So you are invited to join #XYZ. The channel is clickable and if you do you’re in that channel, with misterY now. If misterZ is there, he will join as well. Now you are in a “friends or family” chatbox, but anyone can join. So sometimes you will prefer a private conversation. Of course you can make an invitation as well Just type” misterX invites misterY to join #XYZ and the same will happen as before.
If you are in a private chatroom now or in a friends-chatroom You can see at the top that you are able to return to “chatbox (alg) (in this case #mininet) at any time. After some seconds your other chatroom will disappear if you are finished with it, so don’t bother. Beneath your textinput form you see some nice futures. Just try them out. The “translate” future is great, but needs a little explanation. Click on it and in your textinput form appears a line to choose a language. f.i. choose Thai and than click on translate again. A message appears that your text will be translated now in Thai. Try it out and you will see your line in your language and in the chosen language as well. MisterY will only get the Thai language. As misterY does the same and choose your language, you will talk in eachothers language, but use simple words.
